Spring has Sprung but it’s that annoying season where one day its sunny and the next its raining and the question becomes WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR!
Well never fear the answer is here with my TOP 5 must try Looks!
The Tailored Girly
If you have been doing a lot of shopping you will notice there is a lot of brightly coloured wide legged trousers, flares or a few Peg trousers around. I think this is a great Spring look but the key is styling it with the right top. I love a shirt with it but you don’t want to feel like your working in an office so try opting for a shirt with either floral or stripe detail and maybe even a little ruffle. Finish off the look with a pair of Mules or maybe a simple court shoe and an equally as colourful bag. The bright colours and floral extras will give you just the right balance between girly and androgynous!
The Lazy Girl
These shift style, throw on dresses are such a reasonable price and come in a range of colours, patterns and designs. Meaning it is the perfect dress for that on the move girl. Lets be honest sometimes you’re in a rush and just don’t have time to iron but you want to look like you have made an effort, if thats you get one of these dresses NOW! Pair it with some wedges or even a little ankle boot and you are good to go. Wow the crowd with a look that is so simple!
The Hot and Cold
Spring weather is so unpredictable one minute its lovely and sunny, the next its April showers. I know it seems knitwear is only for winter but a thin jumper can really save you on those cooler nights. There are many sweatshirts and jumpers around, all with some really cool features like a flared sleeve or a giant ruffle. Style this with a mini skirt in either Leather, PVC or even vinyl (keep reading to hear all about that) and you have the perfect spring look for that uncontrollable weather. Finish the look off with either a pair of mules or a cute little ankle boot. If it freezing (this is England after all) you could also rock it with some jeans.
Workin’ It Workwear
There are so many Pencil Skirts around at the moment each with a little something different. A giant frill, Statement buttons or just simply in gingham print. Whatever it might be, it’s a great look however similar to the wide trousers, it can easily look like your off to the office. With the skirt I’ve found the best thing is to stay clear of pairing it with a shirt, even if it has got florals on it. Instead opt for a ‘cold shoulder’ top or even a simple T-shirt. Don’t go too fancy on top and let the skirt speak for itself. To carry the look into the evening, pair with a simple court shoe.
A blazer is definitely a must have item this season. It’s the perfect item to keep you warm enough when the temperature starts to dip at night or just on those cooler days. It also feels a little more dressed up than a denim jacket. I am huge fan of vinyl this season. There is a lot of it around from coats to trousers. Here I have styled myself in some vinyl jeans. These will last so much longer than just normal white jeans and won’t fade in the wash although they are slightly warm, so will probably not carry over into the summer months. You could finish this look off with just a Tee but I’ve gone for something a little more unexpected with this stripe plunge neck top. Stripes are a huge trend now and really pop when with a plainer item. Depending on the time of day, finish this look off with a dainty heel or a relaxed loafer.

I am a 26 year old shopaholic who doesn’t believe in wearing the same thing twice. I live in London in a 2 bed flat that I share with my friend and my boyfriend, who almost has as many clothes as I do. Needless to say having storage space is not a luxury I have. My bedroom is essentially a walk in wardrobe with a bed in the middle.
So here are a few helpful hacks to making the most of your space or lack of. Trust me I’m qualified.
1. A Bed is NOT just for sleeping!
I recommend buying a bed with either drawers attached or one that is high enough to fit boxes underneath. A divan bed is just not suitable for a dedicated slave to fashion. If it’s too late and you have already bought a bed, my thoughts are with you but you should of found me sooner.
2. SHOES are a girls Best Friend!
If you are lucky enough to own a pair or more, of expensive designer shoes I understand you want to keep the box and rightly so. They cost more than a pet they and they deserve to be treated properly. But for all your everyday shoes it’s time to ditch the boxes. There are some great shoe storage options available. I recommend for your casual flat shoes (eww) and trainers purchasing an over the door holder, not the racks they are terrible and will fall apart but the ones with pockets are great. Then for your heels you can get these great boxes that are clear so you can see which shoes are in them, they also feature sliding drawers so you don’t have to move everything just to get to the bottom pair.
3. Change with the Seasons
Just imagine, it’s spring/summer. Likelihood is you are not going to wear a thick jumper (if living in the U.K. Leave one out as a precaution). So pick out the A/W looks you won’t be wearing and sort through them. If they are just a basic shirt which you probably won’t wear again because you will buy something similar next year in a different colour, put it in a bin bag. However if it is something that maybe costs a bit more money, is Unique or looks timeless put it in a box and store them under your bed. Then when it’s time to change the seasons you repeat the whole process again.
4. Sell! Sell! Sell!
But what about the clothes in the bin bag I hear you ask? Well one option is to throw them away but that just doesn’t seem right. The best thing to do is either take them to a charity shop or if you want a bit of money for them but it’s not worth the hassle of setting up an eBay post, there are plenty of companies that will buy your items and pay roughly 50/60p per kilo. It’s not a lot however if you have a lot of bags it does start to add up. Some of them even take shoes and bedding. When it comes to the more expensive outfits or maybe evening dresses I suggest Once a year taking a look at what you have, ask yourself am I going to wear this again? Is this a timeless look? If the answer is no.. sell it! eBay! Depop! Instagram!
5. Love or Louboutins?
To all serious fashionistas try to avoid living with a significant other until you can afford an apartment with a Carrie Bradshaw style wardrobe.
I know having a minimalistic room or house is the dream but if you are shopping obsessed, sacrifices have to be made. So try taking it as a positive and a push you need to work harder. The more money you make the quicker you will get to a walk in wardrobe oh and of course that much needed pair of Louboutins.
For my birthday I was lucky enough to receive tickets for London Fashion Week Festival (If you’re stuck for gift ideas then this is a great one). LFWF is an event which gives you access to the best of British and International fashion including industry talks, designer shopping and trend and designer catwalk shows. Its basically a must see for all Fashionistas, so I grabbed a couple of my friends and off we went. I had the ‘Gold’ ticket which meant I got to view both Catwalk shows. So let me tell you what I discovered.
Designer Show – Teatum Jones
Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones are the designers behind London based brand TEATUM JONES! It is not a brand I am familiar with but I really enjoyed their show. The catwalk show featured many bold, bright fabrics. I felt like they had a story to tell, nothing was just a plain block colour. After researching this brand I discovered that this is what they are known for. On the catwalk I saw many many statement coats and bold shirt dresses
This was a fun show to watch however I feel like the trends of this season are rather obvious. So not sure I can say I learnt a lot but as I said there was some very pretty things.
‘Florals in spring are a given but this time they are in microscopic form.’
We all know florals is not a new trend, its basically a given when it comes to spring. However I do think its something that many girls won’t even try as they just aren’t that ‘girly.’ The great thing about the micro florals is from a far they just look like block colours. So I think it will introduce a new type of girl into florals. There are some great tailored outerwear looks around if you fancy playing around with a new take of florals.
‘They’re cooler and sexier with unusual fabrications and assorted dimensions.’
I think the interesting thing about ruffles this year is that we are seeing them in more unusual places i.e. down the back of a dress instead of the front. I think they are best styled with a more streamline look that way they can really shine.
‘Widespread neckline and sleeve experimention delivers dazzling result.’
We saw a lot of the ‘cold shoulder’ look last year but I think this year there has been a lot more experiments with the actual sleeves as oppose to just no sleeves. I have also noticed different necklines and a lot of asymmetrical shapes.
Check out my blog of the day to really discover what the festival has to offer and of course to take a closer look at the catwalks looks.
Award Season is over *Sad face*
Throughout the season I have been uploading videos of my personal best and worst dressed for each awards. Although as I have frequently said I’m not overly convinced everyone brought their A game this year, so it has made choosing the best a hard task. If you want to see my choices click on the thumbnail below.
With award season out of the way I wanted to do my top 3 from across all the awards.
1.Emma Stone in Givenchy Haute Couture
If winning every award wasn’t enough, Emma basically won every red carpet she stepped out on this year. Although to be fair, being the favourite to win she probably had her pick of any designer and any dress so maybe it’s not the most unfair fight. I think she definitely left the best till last, with this Gold intricate flapper style gown. I particularly loved the fringe skirt. A dropped waist seemed quite the trend this year but once gain she did it better than the rest. The dress was tailored too perfection added with the simple jewellery and the Hollywood waved hair. She really did bring that classic old Hollywood feel a bit like the film La La Land did. I wonder if that was a coincidence?
2. Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad
Another big trend on the red carpet this year was princess dresses with an edge and the first one to step out in this style was Lily, she set the bar very high and in my opinion nobody else could compete.
I think the styling from head to toe was perfection. The messy up do with the bright pink eyeshadow and vibrant red lip gave that edge and definitely was a different take on the nude look that usually accompanies a princess gown. I have to say I love this colour on her but it would not suit me at all. The intricate beading of the dress along with the backless detail are the reason she made my ultimate top 3 list.
3. Adele in Givenchy
It is no secret that Adele has got curves and is maybe on the bigger size when looking at a stereotypical Red Carpet. However she brings it every time! She is a woman who knows how to dress for her body type (Or has a stylist who does). She always wears something that shows her and her figure off to its best and this dress is no exception. The colour really suits her and really makes her eyes pop. This look was actually seen on the runway however Adele opted to have sleeves added and with the delicate beaded detail, I don’t blame her. I love all the different textures in this dress, I think it makes it so versatile. I think the waistband and downward pointing lines really emphasise her curves in all the right ways. Adele’s Make-up is always something to envy, that, complimented with the sweeping up-do and diamond earrings made this my favourite look of the Grammys 2017.
This past week brought us London Fashion Week and one of my favourite events is the Topshop Unique show. I believe they have revolutionised the way fashion shows will be and how we shop. Not only do they live stream the show on various platforms but you can now shop the runway looks straight after show. A shopaholics dream!
Topshop Unique is my favourite collection from Topshop but it is much pricier than their usual stuff. I must admit its definitely gone up since it first started but hasn’t everything. I think the price is justified as TU is only available in the London Oxford Street store and a limited selection online and on Net-a-Porter. Once its gone it’s gone making it exclusive, I guess you could say its Unique! The quality is a lot better than most Topshop clothing and the items I’ve had from previous seasons have lasted many years, I’m always bringing them back out thanks to their timeless designs.
This years catwalk had some great looks, lots of bright colours. It had a few 90’s influences and very slouchy feel to a lot of the clothing. I was a fan of most of the looks except this oversized jumper. I know the looks you see on the catwalk are over exaggerated and not exactly how you would wear it walking down the street but I just hate how this was styled. I mean how do I pick anything up?
Obviously I bought a few items, I tried not to go too crazy so bought the more statement looks that I can pair with my more affordable tops and bottoms. I purchased this dress which is also available in a mustard colour but I opted for the floral because I have a few yellow dresses already. This is the perfect dress for spring/summer and can easily be dressed up or down.
I also got two pairs of trousers which as I said will go perfect with my recent purchases from Zara. I loved these cargo trousers on the catwalk but the picture on the website put me off slightly as they didn’t look quite as cool but I bought them anyway. Turns out they look more like the website picture than the runway but the great thing about buying online is you can return for free.
The last item I got was this striped shirt dress, because you can’t go wrong with a shirt dress. Its my favourite colour and I love the detail on the belt, it really helps cinch you in.
Luckily for me and my bank account the looks that went on sale straight after the show weren’t my top picks so I didn’t get too carried away but I can’t promise I won’t when the full collection goes on sale. I already have my eye one a chic cream dress and some funky yellow ankle boots.
