6 things all shops need to STOP doing!

I love shopping more than the average person. This has been the case since birth, my mum is a huge shopaholic and has most definitely passed down that obsession to me. Over my years of shopping I have noticed many mistakes shops seem to make time after time and I think if only these problems could be fixed my experience would be even better. So here is my main 6 issues I find when shopping.

Same! Same! Same! but different?

Imagine this, you go in the shop and you find the perfect summer dress. Two weeks later you go into the same shop and see that same dress but in a different colour. You may even be tempted to buy it, after all it fit you great, you had so many compliments on it, why not? Then 3 months later when Winter is on its way in you see that same dress but this time in a darker shade. This is my shopping experience every single year. Sometimes Ive found the same item has made a comeback two years later. Here’s a suggestion how about just coming up with a completely new design as surely nobody wants the same thing in seven different colours. It takes the fun out of shopping for new things.

Where for art thou size?

One of my biggest pet peeves when shopping is when the english size is not the first one on the tag. It’s up there with when the right size is not on the coat hanger (but I can’t always blame the shops for that). There is nothing worse than getting all the way to the changing room to find you haven’t got a size 8 intact you have an American size 8 which is a UK 12. It’s fair to say its not going to fit so then I either have to go find my size or wait until somebody brings it to me. I understand some shops are European based and this why but surely it can’t cost that much money to change the tag over?

But I’m a shopaholic….

Talking of dressing rooms, the main problem I find when shopping, is the maximum number of clothes I can take into the changing room is six or lower. Ten would be an appropriate number or better yet don’t have a max. Topshop has improved this over the years so I think its time for others to follow suit. Lets be honest there really is nothing worse than having to keep coming out and swapping you’re clothes and in the end its a win for everyone as I will end up buying more clothes and the shop gets more of my money.

A Picture is worth a thousand words…

I love walking in the shops and seeing all the model shots on the wall and looking at what clothes are due in for the current season. However I find most of the time the dress that you love and just have to have never ends up coming in store or if it does, it doesn’t actually look like what it did on the model, its made from a cheaper material and doesn’t quite have the same detail. What’s the point? If you have made me need a dress for 3 months at least bring it in store exactly how it appears.

Photoshop be gone!

Talking of photographs why do online stores photoshop there clothes so much. I understand they want to use the best lighting to make the outfit look its best but whats the point if when I buy it, its not even the same colour. There has been so many times Ive seen something online and it says red, and it looks orange on the photograph so I buy it thinking it will be a an orangey red only to receive it and it be a dark red. Or Vice versa it  looks and says it cream yet when it arrives its bright white. Note to stores over photoshopping doesn’t help anybody.

Sometimes you can have too much Prosecco!

I realise that over the last couple of years Prosecco has become very popular however that does not mean I need it to be on everything I buy. From cards to cosmetic bags to T-shirts, even pencil cases! FYI most people using a pencil case aren’t even old enough to drink Prosecco. It needs to stop, lets leave Prosecco in the bars and designers to give me a more fabulous outfit to wear so I have more of an excuse to go out an drink Prosecco. can I get a cheers to that?

5 Must Have Swimsuits

Over the last few years swimwear has become less about tanning and more about fashion, even more so with the rise of beach clubs and programmes like TOWIE!

The Beach Club Bikini

This look is all about looking good not about how to get the best tan! If you are off to a beach club or spending the day on a booze cruise, it is essential you find the right swimwear. Opt for either a strappy bikini or swimsuit. Finish the look with a wedge and some fabulous jewellery. If you are looking for the perfect beach jewellery  check out my friends company Feather and Chain.

Teeny Tiny Tanner

If you are off on a girly holiday or just for a romantic getaway you can always find time to top up your tan. However unless you want to look like a Zebra its best to ditch the strappy bikini and opt for a more basic look. I recommend a micro triangle top that allows you to pull the straps down without missing that all important cleavage paired with a thin strap bottom. You can always choose a thong bottom but that just depends on how confident you are. Of course you can always choose the topless look but that’s not for everyone.

I know the thought of  Summer can be a dreaded time for some, not only because of hay fever. The idea of having your body on show for everybody to see makes you want to cover up. Well I’m here to tell you to embrace your curves, your the scar, your cellulite, those stretch marks or the lack of boobs you have. Whatever the case may be love your body and embrace everything summer has to offer. If you’re still a bit worried here’s some solutions to make your Summer more comfortable.

Covered up cutie

Bikinis seem to be coming a thing of the past with swimsuits really taking over and no longer just being for someone over a certain age range or on the curvy side. So for what ever the reason you don’t want to get your stomach out there are some very chic and stylish swimsuits about. Pair it with an oversized floppy sun hat to really get heads turning. Or if you’re feeling playful I love a quote or location swim costume. Another favourite look of mine, if you’re feeling brave and want to bare a little bit of skin, is a high waisted bikini still keeping you chic and covered.

Sexy and Strapless

When going on your travels its essential you pack at least one strapless bikini. After all sometimes you don’t want to pull your straps down and deal with the hassle of that. If you are a girl with a smaller chest and you haven’t yet embraced it, this style is perfect for you. It gives the illusion that there is something there especially if you get a padded strapless bikini.

Top-Tini

Gone are the days of those awful ‘tank top’ bikinis but what I have noticed is a new trend of a longer bodied bikini with usually halter neck strap or sometimes off the shoulder. I think these have replaced the tank top and thank goodness because they are way more stylish. This style of bikini top is not great for tanning. However it is great to pair with some shorts and rock it as a top. That way at a moments notice you can be ready to jump in the pool or sea without feeling like you are walking around half naked.

I understand swimwear can be expensive but the great thing is it will last you for a few years, even the cheaper ones. I feel like there is always the tendency to over pack but I guarantee of you pack at least one of each of these styles you will not come unstuck on your travels. Finally remember swimwear is just like underwear it should always be matching.

Pretty Little Liars: 15 Best Fashion Moments

Tonight marks the series finale of Pretty Little Liars! After seven long years we will finally have all the answers. Who is A.D? Which of our favourite ships will be endgame? How did the Moms escape the basement? But the most important question I am asking today is, who is the best dressed Liar? So join me in taking a look at some of the best outfits of the series.

Let’s be honest you can’t talk PLL fashion without talking about Alison’s infamous yellow top. After 7 seasons I really hope Sasha Pieterse got too keep it.
PLL knows how to do Prom! Every liar looked incredible. Hannas look would of been my top pick. The hair, make up and dress were perfection but sadly she’s losing points for those lace up booties. Did A swap her shoes without her knowing?
Forget Shay Mitchell let’s just call her SLAY Mitchell. This barbarella Halloween costume is anything but frightful. Can it be Halloween already just so I can copy this outfit!
Spencer’s sleeveless leather trench is the perfect piece to bring a bit of edge to her usual preppy style.
Talking of preppy with an edge, I can’t get enough of this Aria ensemble. This sums her style up and shows she’s never afraid to mix styles.
I personally think Hanna got the best time jump wardrobe but she is a wannabe fashion designer so it only makes sense. This self portrait dress just proves my theory. I LOVE IT!
Finally we saw Alison ditch the yellow top and upgrade to this stunning yellow dress just in time for prom. She looks absolutely stunning with the waisted belt making it a bit more bad ass!
I can still cannot get over Spencer’s green wrap gown prom dress. Her silhouette looks stunning and its just the sort of dress we would expect from her. One of her ultimate fashion moments.
I love lucy Hale as flapper girl Daisy Buchanan. I can’t help thinking it’s a shame she wasn’t born in the 1920s as this look suits her so much. Although then who would of played Aria?
Ok so I know this is cheating slightly as its not technically from the actual programme, but it is from the poster so it still counts right? Ashley benson is killing it in the ultimate little black dress. The thigh high slit detail is to LIE for!
The film Noir episode was one of my favourite episodes and that’s partly because of the fashion. Spencer was killing every look in every scene. Another Liar born into the wrong era.
I love this Oxblood dress from Aria. Could she look any cuter and innocent. The pleats and stripes with the added Aria accessories make it the perfect vintage inspired outfit.
Aria is known for her out there outfits but the comic strip dress has to be her most quirky outfit. I can’t decide if I love it or hate it. But I applaud that she was bold enough to try it.
Queen of the prom goes to Emily. It’s only fitting as she already has the crown. I am obsessed with this look. From head to toe it’s the perfect PLL prom dress. Look at those earrings if you don’t believe me.
Ok so she’s technically not a Liar but I have to mention Mona. This is my ultimate Mona fashion moment. The red cape is EVERYTHING.  Lite red riding hood gone dark! I love it.

Enjoy the finale and fingers crossed we get the answers we’ve be waiting for. Thanks to PLL for all the mystery, drama secrets and lies over the years. Make sure you comment and tell me your favourite outfit.

Get Out: Review

Rating: ★★

Best bits: From Start to Finish
Worst bits: The casting of Caleb Landry Jones as Jeremy Armitage

Watch the Trailer Here!
I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of ‘Get Out’ thanks to movie geeks UK.
I have to say my review might be slightly bias as the atmosphere in the screening was amazing and I’m not convinced you will get that same reaction in a normal cinema.
I was super excited to see this film after watching the trailer, if I’m honest its the best trailer I’ve seen in a long time. However it did leave me with a feeling of what is this? Is it a horror? is it a comedy? After researching I realised it was a dark comedy so take that how you will no spoilers here.
For once I actually struggled with what was the worst part so this time I had to go with casting. Its not that CLJ was bad, I just could of done without him in it. Well actually his character definitely had to be in it he just didn’t need to play him. He’s not an actor I’ve seen before but there was just something that annoyed me about him. As you can probably tell I’m really stretching for a worst part.
The film is perfectly jumpy even making the grown men next me throw their popcorn in the air and thats all you really need from a horror. The storyline is very consistent and doesn’t lag in any parts which is great. I feel there is not much I can say about the film without spoiling anything all I will say is GO AND SEE IT! You will not be disappointed.
In cinemas 17th March 2017 (That’s today)

5 Hacks For A Shopaholic

I am a 26 year old shopaholic who doesn’t believe in wearing the same thing twice. I live in London in a 2 bed flat that I share with my friend and my boyfriend, who almost has as many clothes as I do. Needless to say having storage space is not a luxury I have. My bedroom is essentially a walk in wardrobe with a bed in the middle.

So here are a few helpful hacks to making the most of your space or lack of. Trust me I’m qualified.

1. A Bed is NOT just for sleeping!

I recommend buying a bed with either drawers attached or one that is high enough to fit boxes underneath.  A divan bed is just not suitable for a dedicated slave to fashion. If it’s too late and you have already bought a bed, my thoughts are with you but you should of found me sooner.

2.  SHOES are a girls Best Friend!

If you are lucky enough to own a pair or more, of expensive designer shoes I understand you want to keep the box and rightly so. They cost more than a pet they and they deserve to be treated properly. But for all your everyday shoes it’s time to ditch the boxes. There are some great shoe storage options available. I recommend for your casual flat shoes (eww) and trainers purchasing an over the door holder, not the racks they are terrible and will fall apart but the ones with pockets are great. Then for your heels you can get these great boxes that are clear so you can see which shoes are in them, they also feature sliding drawers so you don’t have to move everything just to get to the bottom pair.

3. Change with the Seasons

Just imagine, it’s spring/summer. Likelihood is you are not going to wear a thick jumper (if living in the U.K. Leave one out as a precaution). So pick out the A/W looks you won’t be wearing and sort through them. If they are just a basic shirt which you probably won’t wear again because you will buy something similar next year in a different colour, put it in a bin bag. However if it is something that maybe costs a bit more money, is Unique or looks timeless put it in a box and store them under your bed. Then when it’s time to change the seasons you repeat the whole process again.

4. Sell! Sell! Sell!

But what about the clothes in the bin bag I hear you ask? Well one option is to throw them away but that just doesn’t seem right. The best thing to do is either take them to a charity shop or if you want a bit of money for them but it’s not worth the hassle of setting up an eBay post,  there are plenty of companies that will buy your items and pay roughly 50/60p per kilo. It’s not a lot however if you have a lot of bags it does start to add up. Some of them even take shoes and bedding. When it comes to the more expensive outfits or maybe evening dresses I suggest Once a year taking a look at what you have, ask yourself am I going to wear this again? Is this a timeless look? If the answer is no.. sell it! eBay! Depop! Instagram!

5. Love or Louboutins?

To all serious fashionistas try to avoid living with a significant other until you can afford an apartment with a Carrie Bradshaw style wardrobe.

carrie's wardrobe

I know having a minimalistic room or house is the dream but if you are shopping obsessed, sacrifices have to be made. So try taking it as a positive and a push you need to work harder. The more money you make the quicker you will get to a walk in wardrobe oh and of course that much needed pair of Louboutins.

London Fashion Week Festival

For my birthday I was lucky enough to receive tickets for London Fashion Week Festival (If you’re stuck for gift ideas then this is a great one). LFWF is an event which gives you access to the best of British and International fashion including industry talks, designer shopping and trend and designer catwalk shows. Its basically a must see for all Fashionistas, so I grabbed a couple of my friends and off we went. I had the ‘Gold’ ticket which meant I got to view both Catwalk shows. So let me tell you what I discovered.

Designer Show – Teatum Jones

Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones are the designers behind London based brand TEATUM JONES! It is not a brand I am familiar with but I really enjoyed their show. The catwalk show featured many bold, bright fabrics. I felt like they had a story to tell, nothing was just a plain block colour. After researching this brand I discovered that this is what they are known for. On the catwalk I saw many many statement coats and bold shirt dresses

Trend show

This was a fun show to watch however I feel like the trends of this season are rather obvious. So not sure I can say I learnt a lot but as I said there was some very pretty things.

Micro Florals

‘Florals in spring are a given but this time they are in microscopic form.’

We all know florals is not a new trend, its basically a given when it comes to spring. However I do think its something that many girls won’t even try as they just aren’t that ‘girly.’ The great thing about the micro florals is from a far they just look like block colours. So I think it will introduce a new type of girl into florals. There are some great tailored outerwear looks around if you fancy playing around with a new take of florals.

Ruffles Reinvented

‘They’re cooler and sexier with unusual fabrications and assorted dimensions.’

I think the interesting thing about ruffles this year is that we are seeing them in more unusual places i.e. down the back of a dress instead of the front. I think they are best styled with a more streamline look that way they can really shine.

Shoulder Show

‘Widespread neckline and sleeve experimention delivers dazzling result.’

We saw a lot of the ‘cold shoulder’ look last year but I think this year there has been a lot more experiments with the actual sleeves as oppose to just no sleeves. I have also noticed different necklines and a lot of asymmetrical shapes.

Best and Worst Dressed: Award Season

Award Season is over *Sad face*

Throughout the season I have been uploading videos of my personal best and worst dressed for each awards. Although as I have frequently said I’m not overly convinced everyone brought their A game this year, so it has made choosing the best a hard task. If you want to see my choices click on the thumbnail below.

Check them out here!

With award season out of the way I wanted to do my top 3 from across all the awards.

1.Emma Stone in Givenchy Haute Couture

es1
Oscars 2017

If winning every award wasn’t enough, Emma basically won every red carpet she stepped out on this year. Although to be fair, being the favourite to win she probably had her pick of any designer and any dress so maybe it’s not the most unfair fight. I think she definitely left the best till last, with this Gold intricate flapper style gown. I particularly loved the fringe skirt. A dropped waist seemed quite the trend this year but once gain she did it better than the rest. The dress was tailored too perfection added with the simple jewellery and the Hollywood waved hair. She really did bring that classic old Hollywood feel a bit like the film La La Land did. I wonder if that was a coincidence?

2. Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad

Another big trend on the red carpet this year was princess dresses with an edge and the first one to step out in this style was Lily, she set the bar very high and in my opinion nobody else could compete.

I think the styling from head to toe was perfection. The messy up do with the bright pink eyeshadow and vibrant red lip gave that edge and definitely was a different take on the nude look that usually accompanies a princess gown. I have to say I love this colour on her but it would not suit me at all. The intricate beading of the dress along with the backless detail are the reason she made my ultimate top 3 list.

3. Adele in Givenchy

a1
Grammys 2017

It is no secret that Adele has got curves and is maybe on the bigger size when looking at a stereotypical Red Carpet. However she brings it every time! She is a woman who knows how to dress for her body type (Or has a stylist who does). She always wears something that shows her and her figure off to its best and this dress is no exception. The colour really suits her and really makes her eyes pop. This look was actually seen on the runway however Adele opted to have sleeves added and with the delicate beaded detail, I don’t blame her. I love all the different textures in this dress, I think it makes it so versatile. I   think the waistband and downward pointing lines really emphasise her curves in all the right ways. Adele’s Make-up is always something to envy, that, complimented with the sweeping up-do and diamond earrings made this my favourite look of the Grammys 2017.
